Where did Xmas Go?

So that was it was it. Christmas 2006?
Just to recap the night after my last entry. The theory of no alcohol has been well and truly blown out of the water. Attempted the "no fizzy drinks" regime by having a large JD and coke ,therefore less coke. (works for me..lol) After a couple or three of those it was off to the Italian Restaurant in Basingstoke.
Was doing so well, ordered lasagne whilst others orders starters and a main course.
Unfortunately the red wine was flowing and while other indulged in picky starters strewn down the table I continued to attack the never ending flow of red nectre.
Was telling stories of my past to those that would listen, befriending people I would never have spoken to in a million years had they not been bestowed to my end of the table. When someone tells you not to make their other half laugh a challenge to find out why is automatically installed. Ever hear a car try to start but fail on a cold winters morning..?...the only way i can describe the laugh that ensued!
Evening ended up back at Sue and Gers with the downing of a nice night cap of Vodka ,soda and lime provided by the ever perfect hosts !!

FRIDAY ....aaaaawwww hangover from hell..all 4 months worth of it all in one go!
Mouth engaged for the first time in conversation at the local Tesco garage. Picking up a paper and burbling in the most strangest uninteligible tones quickly followed by a clearing of the throat and a whole new intelligible vocabulary being dispersed from my lips always makes me chuckle..lol

Work didnt really register until 10.30am (3 hours later) when my head began to clear a little. Margi (my leaving assistant) had over slept(called her a t 10am,still alsleep) as I wish I had been to a certain extent.
Work fifnished for me at 12pm and i eventually made my way slowly home back down the foggy M3 to Portsmouth.

Christmas Day
Not a great start to the day. Up bathed and ready for a day i was dreading.
Went to the Home to see if my father could go to the hospital to visit my mother.(She had been in for an operation on her leg on the Wednesday and now was to be kept in over the festive period.) Well he wasn't too good but they said i could take him out but had to be back by lunchtime. Wheelchair, car and more wheelchair eventually got us to my mothers ward. She seemed very pleased to see us but my dad with his mild dementure still struggled to come to terms of how he would spend his last Xmas only for a short time with my mother.
It was very sad and I cried too with them both.
I eventually returned him to the home via reverse route and by the time I got home felt like I didn't want to continue the day at all.
That all changed ,of course with those beautiful blue eyes and smile of my daughter Ellie appearing at my door.:-)

Christmas dinner for me .... my sisters macoroni cheese..bliss!
Bad jokes and many games ensued with a highly upbeat afternoon and evening completed the day.
